What's your barrier to the gospel?
Tonight at church we worked our way through John 4, and looked at Jesus conversation with a Samaritan woman. As he talked with her it was clear that there were barriers in her life that kept her from accepting who Jesus was. Are any of these at work in your life?
Barrier #1: Unworthiness
It's easy to feel unworthy of the free love of God. Many of us struggle with regret over things that we've done. Regardless of what is in your past you are worthy of the love of God.
Barrier #2: Misconception
What did Jesus come to do? For many, when they come to Jesus their desires don't change and Jesus becomes a way to get what they really want. Thus, Jesus comes to provide for us: a family, relationship, money, job, or anything else we desire. Jesus came to give you life. That life is an eternal relatinoship with the one God. What are you wanting Jesus to do in your life?
Barrier #3: Sin
Our rebellion against God seperates us from him. Sometimes the reason we don't want to come to Jesus is because we know he will call us to make some changes in our lives. Do you love the other things in your life more than God?
Barrier #4: Distraction
Long time Christians have a knack of getting worked up about petty doctrinal issues, but never get to the questions of repentance and worship. Are you letting God work in your life?
