Battling the Darkness in your Dorm: dorm room missiology (McCutcheon Hall)

Living in a dorm while in College provides great opportunities for many things. Most of these things are a glorious waste of time, and most do more damage to the Christian soul then we assume.

Likewise, there is also a great opportunity for finding your identity in Christ, learning to be a missionary where you live, living in Gospel community while in the world and not of it, and worshiping God for His glory and your joy.

While focussed on guys who attend COG and live in the dorms at Purdue, this is going to be an open event. Using some of my own story as the backdrop, I will go over many texts from the Bible that are pertinent to Christians in the University dorm context.

Key topics will include:
- Praying aggressively for your neighbors and being prepared for spiritual attack ( Romans 10:1; 1 Peter 5:8; 2 Cor 2:11; 1 John 5:16-20)
- Being a brother in Christ....practical ways to love and care for your sisters in Christ when you are around them, and when you're not! (1 Tim 5:1-2)
- Humility: why you will suck at life if you are prideful (Phil 2:3-11; James 4:6)

and more... Questions are welcome also.

I only plan this for one night, but I am open and available to do more of this kind of thing if there is a general desire for more. I lived in a dorm all four years of College and God taught me a lot through that time. I hope to continue to utilize that gift He gave me by helping others live on mission in their dorm, and I have a great passion for it.
