City of God Update - March 16

by Eric Roseberry on March 16, 2020

City of God Family,

I hated not being able to worship with you in person yesterday, but it was encouraging to see and hear from all of you who used are Home Worship Guide. I believe now more than ever that even if we can't gather as our entire church family in the short-term, we can still be the church, and we can still pursue our mission of making disciples who love Jesus, love people, and advance the gospel. Regardless of what happens on Sunday mornings, that isn't changing.

I wanted to provide you with a few updates to help keep you connected to the life of our church in the coming weeks.

1. Worship Service Update

For at least the next two weeks, we will be live-streaming services on Sunday mornings. As of now, our elders don't know when we will gather as an entire church family again, but we're hopeful that it will be sooner rather than later. Here is what we can say for now. We will not gather for worship at Lafayette Christian School on March 22 or 29.

However, over on the City of God Facebook page, we will live-stream full worship services at 10:45 on both of those Sundays. These will include the same worship and preaching that you experience every Sunday at City of God. Plus, if you watch it live with us on Facebook, there will be ways to interact with others who are watching at the same time. If you can't join us at 10:45, the full service will be available to watch whenever you're able.

We do encourage you to consider getting together with a small group of friends or family to experience these services together. Even though we can't all gather together, there are creative ways we can worship with some of the body. If you would like to provide or receive communion at your home during these services, you can come by the office to pick up pre-packaged elements.

2. Join a City Group

Some of City of God's City Groups are planning on meeting as scheduled this week. These groups provide an excellent opportunity to stay connected with others at City of God. You can browse through a list of groups here. We encourage you to reach out to individual City Group leaders before each meeting to make sure the schedule hasn't changed.

3. Continue to Give

While we might not be meeting for corporate worship, City of God, as well as the other missionaries and church plants we support, are still caring for people and reaching their communities with the gospel. We are also expecting an increase in benevolence requests in the coming months, and we would love for you to partner with us in serving our city as we try and help meet the needs of our neighbors.

You can continue to give to help support City of God's mission here

You can also drop a check off at the City of God offices or send it by mail to:

If you need anything in the coming weeks, please don't hesitate to reach out. There might not be as many natural opportunities to talk face-to-face, but we still want to make sure you are receiving the spiritual care you need. Our elders and pastors love you, and we want to serve you however we can in the coming weeks.
