Leadership

Lead Pastor: Eric Roseberry
eric@cogchurch.org

In 2008 Eric and his wife began to sense a call on their life to plant a church.  After a time of prayer and assessment they felt led to Lafayette, IN to plant.  Eric has a deep desire to see people in Lafayette meet Jesus, and then to have those people live Gospel centered lives on God's mission.

Life Story:

I grew up in Versailles, KY and have been in church since I can remember.  However, it wasn't until high school that I started to own my faith, and felt a call from God to enter the ministry.  I attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO where I met my incredible wife Jessie.  Following college we moved to Fishers, IN where I served as an associate minister before coming to Lafayette.  We now have two kids, and are excited to see where God is calling us as a family and this new work as a church.

Education:
Bachelor of Biblical Literature (Ozark Christian College)
Master of Arts: Missional Leadership (Resurgence Training Center)

Pastor for Community and International Outreach: Kiel Nation
kiel@cogchurch.orgKiel

Beginning in July 2009 Kiel Nation will come on board with City of God to develop the discipleship and community focus of COG.  This also includes a focus on reaching out to international students at Purdue University.  For the past few years Kiel has served as an interim pastor in Findlay, OH, and has been completing his M.A. at Winebrenner Theological Seminary.

Life Story:

I was born in Lexington, KY, but spent my childhood in Salem, IN. When I was 12 my family moved to Versailles, KY where they still are and where my dad pastors today. I felt called to something in High School so I went to Kentucky Christian University and served as a youth minister in Cynthiana, KY. During this time I discovered a calling to preach, teach and to do so in an international context. From there I moved to Findlay, OH with three close friends to attend seminary and reach out with the Gospel. While in Findlay I was the interim Pastor for two churches and did pulpit supply for 6 denominations. I worked full-time at the Findlay City Mission for almost two years before leaving to work on my Masters Thesis, and worked as a barista at a local coffee shop. My housemates and I hosted an international hospitality event called Curry Night where we cooked Indian food for more than 50 people from all over the world every week in our home. I recently accepted the position to come on board at City of God in order to follow the same God in the same call in a new city.

Education:

Bachelor of Arts: Advanced Biblical Studies – Minor: Youth & Family Ministries (Kentucky Christian University, 2007)

Master of Arts: Theological Studies – Emphasis: Biblical Studies (Winebrenner Theological Seminary, in progress)

Outside Elder Board

Until City of God Church has developed its own elders to lead and care for the church we are dependent upon outside elders.  We currently have three men who are pastors at other churches that meet with the lead pastor quarterly, and also have input in major church decisions.  These men are:

Rick Long: Lead Pastor at The Point Church Community Church in Frankfort, KY

Ray Ortlund: Lead Pastor at Immanuel Church in Nashville, TN

Mark Bergin: Lead Pastor at The Painted Door in Chicago, IL

Please be in prayer for these men and their churches.
